What this apparently comes to is that Australia and India have forced the hand of His Majesty's Government and therefore Hong Kong is to be sacrificed. It is only suggested that the Hong Kong station should be "deferred" but nothing is said about when it is likely to be possible to take up the work. Hong Kong has shown great keenness for a high power wireless station- not necessarily as in the Imperial Wireless Chain proposals but preferably one which could communicate direct with India - and public opinion there will be bitterly disappointed. It will be remembered that Hong Kong was prepared to contribute half the annual loss on working up to £12,500. Finding £185,000 to build the station is however quite another matter: but if "deferred" really means that His Majesty's Government would still intend to build
